Buffo chapel
About Guido Buffo
Guido Buffo was born in Treviso Italy, he studied in Rome and Venice;
he traveled to Argentina, because of the crisis and the time of war in Europe.
Buffo was an artist, a writer, an
architect, a musician, a geologist, a philosopher, and an astronomer.
Guido married with Leonora Allende in 1914 and they had a child called
Eleonora.
Leonora and Eleonora died because they had tuberculosis and Guido
built the chapel to bury them.
The chapel is situated 7 km from Unquillo in the reserved “Los
Quebrachitos”.
The chapel
It was built in 1941 and finished in 1950; it took 9 years to be finished,
because Guido Buffo worked alone.
It was built because he lost his family, his wife and daughter, and
made the chapel to hold the bodies and to make graves.
The chapel is oval-shaped, it has a tower, and it has adobe structure.
At the entrance of chapel ar 35 stairs.
Into the chapel has a picture of Buffo personality, the love of God, his family and to knowledge. Also the dome has 34 circle-shaped little windows which allows
the pass of the light, in the floor has a pictures of solar system; it has a
good acoustic and 3 pendulum, also contain enigmatic things like a seismograph and more stuff.
The Municipality of Unquillo restored the chapel with the architect
Javier Correa and the architect Marcela Mammana restored the paintings.
